Patient Bill Of Rights

As a lay person, you may have often felt that you were at the mercy of the doctors or the institutions that provided care for you. At Park West Health System our policy is to assure that the patient is always respected.
  1. Continuity of care.

  2. Competent considerate and respectful care.

  3. A complete, easy to understand explanation of your condition, treatment and chances of recovery.

  4. Complete confidentiality of all commmications and records pertaining to your medical care.

  5. Information about the medical consequences of exercising your right to refuse treatment.

  6. The information necessary to give informed consent before beginning any treatment or procedure, except in emergencies.

  7. An explanation of your medical bill regardless of the source of payment and an opportunity to personally examine your bill.

  8. The expectation that Park West Health System will make every reasonable effort to overcome any cultural or language barriers that may exist between you and the staff.

  9. File a grievance should a dispute arise regarding care or treatment.

  10. The personal inspection of your own medical records.

  11. A second medical opinion from the provider of your choice, at your expense.

  12. Appropriate assessment and management of pain.


It is the policy of Park West Health System to provide an impartial, confidential, and timely procedure for addressing the complaints and concerns of patients regarding their rights. It is also our policy to ensure that the patient can file a complaint without fear of reprisaI.
