| Community Health Echo Immunization Protects Our Children: Have your Children had all of their shots? Through proper immunization, parents protect their children against many infectious diseases. Effective vaccines allow us to prevent and control many diseases that were once common. But the viruses and bacteria that cause those diseases still exist, and without immunization, a child could become seriously ill. Children need to be immunized against Hepatitis B, Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Haemophilus Influenza type B, Polio, Pneumococcal disease, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Chicken Pox, and sometimes also against Influenza and Hepatitis A. Schools will not allow your children to register or attend without evidence that they have been properly immunized. Parents should know that vaccines are among the safest medicines available. A child might experience a little soreness or a low fever after receiving a vaccine, and there are possible risks of other side effects. However, the potential risks associated with vaccines are very small compared with the dangers of the diseases vaccines help prevent. Please check with your Park West pediatrician to ensure that your child is properly immunized.
